BREAST CANCER CAUSE
April 21, 2009 (Hartford, CT) – A collection of photographs of breast cancer survivors has consigned to the St. Francis Comprehensive Breast Health Center by the photographer Kristen Jensen and will be installed as part of their permanent collection. To mark the celebration there will be a reception and viewing of the photos on April 23rd at 5:30PM at 95 Woodland Street in Hartford.
(This photo above is of my buddy Stephanie Pelletier and me with some images from the show. Stephanie who runs the The Ridgefield Community center..a total power house and the one woman who gave me the courage to make my first show last October a success. Thank you Stef!)
The photographs are the inspiration and work of Ms. Jensen, a Connecticut based photographer who has consigned this 25 piece collection of black and white images to the hospital. These beautiful works of art tell the story of each woman’s personal journey of faith and hope.
According to Ms. Jensen the idea for the photographs began as she became more aware of the ability of breast cancer to target women of all ages and nationalities. “One of my goals in doing the photographs was to show the courage of these women in facing this illness,” said Ms. Jensen. “But another purpose is to raise awareness of breast cancer because the more funding we attract for research the better our chances of a cure.”
Kristen Jensen is a lifestyle photographer who specializes in portraits of celebrities, artists, business professionals, children and families. Her company, Kristen Jensen Photography, also does photography for social events and her wedding photos have been featured in Modern Bride magazine. As a former international fashion model with Ford Models she has made a transition to the other side of the lens and brings a unique perspective to her work.
Ms. Jensen will be donating more of her time to photograph survivors of breast cancer through her work with the St. Francis Comprehensive Breast Health Center. Any woman that would like to participate in the on going Faces of Courage Image Making should contact Kristen at: kristen@kristenjensen.com or (203) 792-9977. The photo shoots that include hair and makeup are donated by Ms. Jensen and her staff at her Fairfield Country Photo Studio to raise awareness and the face of courage for all woman faced with this cancer.
