Love in New York City….

Wednesday, May 19th, 2010

lovebirds2…and in the Spring….WOW! That is what I have to say about the lucky couple posed above. Katie and Josh wanted to have a shot in front of the “love” sign up on sixth avenue. We spent about 20 minutes here snapping just about every angle I could think of….and “loved” every minute. The happy couple will officially tie-the-knot this August while cruising around Manhattan with 200 friends or so. Congratulations to you both! Can’t wait to photograph your wedding!  Lot’s of “love”, Kristen xoxoxo

A New York City Kiss…..

Wednesday, May 19th, 2010

lovebirds3…out on the street must feel like all eyes are watching. Walking along mid-town last week with Josh and Katie were super fun. While photographing their engagement session  I thought…”this type of thing never feels like work, ya know?” There is always something about a kiss that separates the “real” love-birds from the rest……..even while people are catching a glimpse.

Jet-Setting

Wednesday, May 5th, 2010

is far more glamorous in a corporate jet….don’t you think? Well….one can dream can’t they? Sigh.

That was how I felt last week photographing Chris Wright Martell and his crew aboard this beauty. Long past are the days when I was really jet-setting all around the world. (Does the name ‘Pan Am’ ring a bell?) Do I miss it? Yes and no. I miss the quiet reading time, for sure, but otherwise, business travel is not that much fun and is certainly not always glamorous, especially these days.

Speaking of travel …what are your summer travel plans? My little guy (8 years old) really wants to hit Paris. He has his sights set on the Eiffel Tower ..why not dream big? My sister wants us to join her out at the Grand Canyon. My mother wants us to visit the Northwest, and my father has invited us down South. How can we be all the places we want to be without our Lear jet? My anwser these days? Can you say SKYPE (http://www.skype.com/intl/en/download/skype/macosx/?gclid=COXWlrPuqqECFRRM5QodjkUZFQ&cm_mmc=PAIDS%257CGAWS-_-AMERC%257CUS%257CEN-_-BD%257CSTRCT-_-zf0gn2) boys and girls?

Find a cure for Breast Cancer……

Wednesday, May 5th, 2010

bernadette_rusella0095Our world lost another beautiful lady, wife and mother last week to breast cancer. Bernadette Russella who I photographed last August fought  a long battle with the terrible disease. Bernadette and her sister in-law found me via the web last summer and drove 5 hours to my home studio in Connecticut to have her portraits taken. She was fighting for her life and wanted her young girls to remember their mom as a “fighter.”  They choose me because they thought I would be the photographer that would share Bernadette’s story. How perceptive and right they were to find me! The shoot was the most intense I have ever had to date and her images totally tell her story. She will be my “star” this fall at my  New York City art show because she has given me the courage to take a stand and share her story. May God bless her soul and peace to everyone’s lives that she touched. Spread the word…. we have to find a cure for this terrible disease.
